Starring Maja nominated for Best Film 2009
Today the Guldbagge (“Swedish Oscar”) nominations were announced and the feature film Starring Maja (Prinsessa) got three nominations in the big categories Best Film, Best Director and Best (original) Screenplay (Teresa Fabik). The film might round up a foruth nod through “The Cinema Audience Award“, where any movie-goer can vote and decide which three films will compete live on Monday 25th of January during the live telecast of the awards show on SVT.
Magdu “heading for the stars” in Norway
The very funny and heart warming drama-comedy Starring Maja (Prinsessa) will premiere in Norwegian cinemas on Boxing Day (26th of December). Under the local name På vei mot stjernene (“heading for the stars”) Norwegian movie-goers can enjoy a great story and great actors, with Christian Magdu portraying pretentious top director Martin.

Dead on Arrival at the Sci Fi Convention this weekend (5-6 December)
This weekend, 5-6 th December, it’s time for the yearly Scandinavian Sci-Fi, Game and Film Convention in Stockholm (Älvsjö).
The wonderful folks from Branbomm Film will be there, offering a special version of anticipated action thriller Dead on Arrival (Död vid Ankomst). The film, featuring Christian Magdu in one of the starring roles, will be offered at a special price for convention-goers, in an edition entitled “the bootleg version”. This pre-release version features a commentary with director Henric Brandt and Christian Magdu and a VFX Reel and making of documentary of the much-talked about car chase sequence. A two disc special edition will be released in 2010.
The convention will also be visited by celebrities like Edward Furlong (Terminator 2), Michael Ironside (Starship Troopers), Edi Gathegi (Twilight), Jeremy Bulloch (Bobba Fett from Star Wars) and Doug Bradley (Pinhead from the Hellraiser films).

Last night the migration of www.christianmagdu.com begun, in order to incorporate the website as a part of Amazon’s Cloudfront (“The Cloud”). This CDN (Content Delivery Network) will speed the site up significally, since Cloudfront uses a technique similar to Google and YouTube, where users from all around the world are connected to their nearest node. This move will drastically enhance performance on the site, most noticeably when viewing film clips and pictures – try it out!

Magdu wrongfully convicted – over one million served
The third episode of the second season of Swedish hit tv-series Oskyldigt Dömd (Verdict Revised), aired twice last week on national tv-station Tv4. Counting the two occasions, the free online TV4 Play and premium service TV4 Anytime, over one million Swedish viewers saw the epsiode where Christian Magdu played the leading character Zbigniew Barczyk, a polish man saying he’s wrongfully imprisoned for a murder he didn’t commit.

Christian Magdu signs with Hollywood agent
Christian Magdu has chosen Hollywood agent Bonnie Black at the Bonnie Black Talent & Literary Agency (BBT) to represent him in the USA. Bonnie is a well-known and respected agent in Los Angeles, being active for almost 20 years and specializing in new faces and hot, up-and-coming talent. Her other clients’ credits include The Punisher (2004), Sam Raimi’s The Gift, Mel Brook’s classic Spaceballs, E.R and Pirates of the Carribean.

Christian Magdu kicks off the trailer for this fall’s upcoming dramedy Starring Maja (Prinsessa), as the not-so-fairytale-like-knight-in-shining-armour. The movie opens in Sweden September 11th and will be in competition at the Rome Film Festival in October.
