Starring Maja to Japan

The Aichi International Women’s Film Festival (Nagoya) have selected Starring Maja (Prinsessa) to compete in this year’s line up. The film will be screened four times from the 9ththrough the 12th of September. Director and screenwriter Teresa Fabik will be attending the festival.



Christian Magdu regrets that he cannot attend due to schedueling conflicts filming a new series, but he’s keeping his fingers crossed for the film’s success!

Christian Magdu signs with Zero Gravity Management

Christian has chosen Zero Gravity Management to manage his career in Hollywood. They have a strong portfolio of films they’ve produced (Academy Award nominated The Cooler and Running Scared, starring Paul Walker and Vera Farmiga). As well as a well-rounded roster of actors, writers and directors: Sherlock Holmes writer Michael Robert Johnson, Streetfighter and Romeo Must Die director Andrzej Bartkowiak, Swedish directors Teresa Fabik (Starring Maja, The Ketchup Effect) and duo Måns Mårlind & Björn Stein (Storm, Shelter). Christian Magdu is along side of bigtime TV actor, Michael Vartan (Hawthorne) and Krista Allen (Final Destination) and more. Upcoming attractions are Samuel L. Jackson thriller The Killing Games, currently wrapping production, and Gunslinger starring Josh Hartnett.

Starring Maja to Odessa, Ukraine

Once again we are proud to report that Starring Maja is continuing it’s international streak of festivals, this time as official selection for the Odessa International Film Festival 2010 in Ukraine. The festival takes places 16-24th of July.

Shanghai Film Festival 2010 featuring Starring Maja

The 13th International Film Festival in Shanghai, China, will have Starring Maja (Prinsessa) on it’s programme, as well as having the film represented at the Swedish Pavillion in the World Expo 2010. The Expo, which last year was the destination for 8 million visitors, will be held June 13-20, same dates as the festival.

And the winner is… Starring Maja!

christianmagdu.com is happy and proud to report that STARRING MAJA (Prinsessa) won the BEST FOREIGN LANGUAGE FILM Award at the Newport Beach Film Festival!

The festival just wrapped it’s eleventh installment and made a name for itself internationally, when it premiered Paul Haggis’ CRASH, long before the film went on to win an Oscar for Best Film.

Starring Maja (Prinsessa) continues it’s streak of international attention, having been in Rome, Berlin, Sao Paolo and Haugesund (Norway) it will now screen at the Newport Beach Film Festival (Los Angeles) on Tuesday April 27th at 7.45 PM, under the section Swedish Spotlight.

The film will be presented by star Christian Magdu and the film’s editor Martin Hunter (Full Metal Jacket), followed by a Q&A with them afterwards.

Starring Maja at the Cinequest Film Festival

Guldbagge-nominated drama comedy Starring Maja (Prinsessa) will screen at the Cinequest Film Festival in San José three times Feb 25th through March 2nd.

Internationally ackonowledged Danish thriller, Craig, is now available on Netflix, one of the world’s largest online video rental services. The film, directed by and starring Kim Sonderholm, features Christian Magdu in a key role as one of the two cops trailing the serial killer.

Starring Maja nominated for Best Film 2009

Today the Guldbagge (“Swedish Oscar”) nominations were announced and the feature film Starring Maja (Prinsessa) got three nominations in the big categories Best Film, Best Director and Best (original) Screenplay (Teresa Fabik). The film might round up a foruth nod through “The Cinema Audience Award“, where any movie-goer can vote and decide which three films will compete live on Monday 25th of January during the live telecast of the awards show on SVT.

Magdu “heading for the stars” in Norway

The very funny and heart warming drama-comedy Starring Maja (Prinsessa) will premiere in Norwegian cinemas on Boxing Day (26th of December). Under the local name På vei mot stjernene (“heading for the stars”) Norwegian movie-goers can enjoy a great story and great actors, with Christian Magdu portraying pretentious top director Martin.
